Meet Committeeman Jim Ruh and Catherine Payne

The Perfect Combination for Hillsborough Township

James “Jim” Ruh is a 49-year-old resident of Hillsborough, where he has lived for his most of his life. Jim is married to Cybil and has three children: a daughter, Isabella and two sons, James and Greyson. Jim is committed to community involvement as he currently serves as Township Committee and having previously served on the Hillsborough Board of Education while also being very active in local sports as both an organizer and coach.

Professionally, he serves as the Vice President of Sales for a Somfy North America company. Jim holds a Bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University Jim intends to continue to bring his experience in business and his educational background to his position in local government to ensure that the township continues to run efficiently and in the manner our taxpayers have come to expect.

Jim Ruh has a deep appreciation that he brings to his Township Committee position. Having the opportunity to serve the people of Hillsborough, and maintain our status as one of the best places to live in America plays a major role in his desire to continue his public service on the Township Committee.

Jim currently serves as the Township Committee Liaison to Board of Health, Veterans’ Liaison, Parks and Recreation, Social Services, Youth Services, and BOE. His priorities in office include working with our Senior citizens to continuously improve the quality of life in town and supporting our law enforcement.

Jim takes a great deal of pride in being from and representing Hillsborough. He believes actions speak louder than words and has demonstrated a long history of volunteering, coaching, fundraising and awarding academic scholarships and research grants through these fundraising efforts that spans over the last 20+ years. Jim will work tirelessly in tackling any challenges and ensuring we remain One of the Best Places to Live.

Catherine PAYNE

Catherine Payne, a 16 year resident of Hillsborough Township and a dedicated Republican, is seeking election to the Hillsborough Township Committee. Catherine brings a wealth of community service and volunteer activity to her candidacy, as she serves on Hillsborough’s Board of Adjustment, is the Fundraising Chair at GiGi’s Playhouse, an organization committed to changing the way the world views Down syndrome and to send a global message of acceptance for all, and is engaged in dog rescue and rehabilitation through several local rescues.

Professionally, Catherine has established herself as a successful Project Manager. Her expertise in managing projects effectively and efficiently demonstrates her ability to handle complex tasks, work with diverse teams, and achieve results. Her professional experience has honed her leadership skills and problem-solving abilities, which she believes are essential for serving her community effectively.

Catherine holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business and Spanish from High Point University. This diverse academic foundation has equipped her with the skills needed to continue to run the Hillsborough municipal government as a business, to ensure that our taxpayers benefit from an efficient and productive local government.

Beyond her career, Catherine cherishes her family dearly. She is married to her husband, Al, and together they have three children: daughters Emma and Brenna, and son Dylan. Her family’s support and understanding have been crucial to her involvement in public service and her pursuit of the Township Committee position.
