Township “Quality of Life” Recognition Continues

Hillsborough Adds to List of Awards and Recognitions

Hillsborough Township continues to be recog- nized, both far and near, for outstanding quality of life and leadership and a vibrant, involved community.  “Hillsborough, ‘The Good Life’” continues to be our motto, and our residents, both long-time and those new to town, live it every day,” stated Mayor Lipani.

In recent years, Hillsborough has been frequently recognized by New Jersey Monthly Maga- zine, the NJ Chamber of Commerce, and New Jersey Family Magazine for its quality of life.  Niche has named Hillsborough one of the Best Places to Live in America since it first started this ranking in 2007.  Niche’s 2023 rankings give Hillsborough an overall A+ grade.   Hills- borough continues to achieve high rankings in schools, outdoor activities, and diversity.  “We have always known that Hillsborough is one of the best places to live in New Jersey and we will always strive to earn high marks for our community,” said Mayor Lipani at the March 28th Township Committee meeting.

Niche rankings are based on rigorous analysis of data and reviews.  Specifically, Niche ranked Hillsborough Township in the Top 2% of towns, nationally, and the Top 10% in New Jersey, for families!  For Best Public Schools, Hillsborough is ranked in the Top 5% nationally, and the Top 10% in New Jersey! “This comes as no surprise to those who live here,” stated Committeeman Jim Ruh, Township Committee liaison to the Board of Education.

Hillsborough’s residents and our community have received numerous awards and public recognition over the past year.  They include 23 of our schools’ sports teams, teachers and organizations, nine (9) Non-Profit and commu- nity organizations, three (3) Eagle Scouts and Gold Star Girl Scouts, and eight (8) individu- al residents.  “Our residents’ dedication, work ethic and success, collectively, are what make our community so desirable.  And that success attracts like-minded successful people to help sustain our strong, vibrant community”, stated Deputy Mayor Robert Britting.

Quality of life would not be at the level it is in Hillsborough without a premier Parks & Recreation Department.   In April of this year, the Hillsborough Township Recreation and Parks Department was recognized at the Annual 2023 New Jersey Recreation and Parks Association (NJRPA) conference for their spring campaign, “The Outer Space Task Force Scavenger Hunt 2022.”  Committeeman Jim Ruh, Township Committee liaison to the Recreation & Parks Commission, commented, “With the Sour- land Mountains, Dukes Park, Ann Van Mid- dlesworth Park, Mountainview Park and the many other recreation and park areas for our kids of all ages to get outside and be active, we are very lucky to have a dedicated team in our Recreation & Parks Department, maintaining all these great resources.” Committeeman Ruh added,

“It’s just one of the many reasons that Hillsborough is such a great place to live and raise a family.”
